Insomnia: Capping off S36 through creative storytelling

There is no other way to cap off the season than to showcase a Gawad Ustetika winning entry and a Rector’s Literary Awardee both written by AA members. Insomnia, a production anchored on the concept of creative storytelling, moved its audience by portraying “sleeplessness” as a concept that can be both celebrated and denied.

Directed by S36 Treasurer Mary Claire Aquino and Auditor Ann Catherine Calingasan, this season’s last production featured the story of John and Matt (Jane and Mads) as they try to rekindle their old flame in John Michael Pena’s Writers’ Block; and the never-ending struggle of Angela to get out of sleeplessness in Michelle Ann Ngu’s Good Mourning.

Stylized and minimalist production design and the colorful execution of technical design was presented all throughout the production. Insomnia was staged last May 9-11 at the Tan Yan Kee Auditorium.
